Tournament Updates

The Lady Jackets competed in the Metro PCS tournament this past weekend and finished 2nd in the tournament with Alyssa Lang and Morghen Day making the All-Tournament team.

The Lady Jackets played South Garland in their first game and won 71-26 with Alyssa Lang and Morghen Day scoring 17 points and Sara Williamson scoring 11 points. The next round was against Rowlett and the Lady Jackets won 50-25 with Alyssa Lang leading the team in scoring with 24 points. In the semi-final round RHS beat West Mesquite 65-44 with Kayla Smith scoring 21 points, Alyssa Lang 13 points, and Ellen Baker and Paige Turner both chipping in 10 points. The Finals of the tournament pitted Rockwall against highly ranked DeSoto. It was a Great game that ended with DeSoto winning 61-60. Alyssa Lang led the team in scoring with 22 points, followed by Sara Williams with 12 points and Morghen Day with 11 points.

The Lady Jackets next game will be Friday when they start district against Highland Park at home at 7:30pm.

The JV team competed in the Royse City tournament this weekend and went 3-1. Their first game was against Quinlan Boles and Rockwall won 61-19. Hannah Hernandez led the team in scoring with 14 points followed by Kaelyn Hutton with 11 points. The next round was against HSAA and the Lady Jackets fell short 48-44. Cassie Ross led the team in scoring with 12 points followed by Kaelyn Hutton with 10 points. The 3rd round was against North Mesquite and the Lady Jackets won 43-20. Kaelyn Hutton led the team in scoring with 11 points. The final game was against Texas High and the Lady Jackets won 59-15. Hannah Hernandez led the team in scoring hitting 5 3-pointers and finishing with 21 points.

The JV team will resume play as well on Friday against Highland Park.

The freshmen Lady Jackets took home the second-place trophy at the Dallas Skyline tournament. They advanced to the final game by beating Host Skyline in determining fashion, winning 49-9. Leading scorers were Rachel Farrow (13), Nicole Smith (11), and Krystal Contreras (11).

In the championship game the Lady Jackets lost to a tough Duncanville team. The girls showed that Jacket Fight Never Dies, but just fell short 36-24. Leading scorers were Farrow (9) and Contreras (5). Rachel Farrow and Krystal Contreras were also awarded all-tournament honors.

The team will open district play against Highland Park on Friday at Utley at 5:30 pm.
