Senior Post player Hannah Clark signed a letter of intent this morning to play basketball at Texas A&M-Commerce next year. Way to go Hannah! Hard work pays off!

RHS Starts Season 3-0

The RHS Lady Jackets have started Coach Kasie Brewers first season as Head Coach with three impressive victories. Captains Ellen Baker and Sara Williamson have shown great leadership in this young season. The Lady Jackets won their opener 61-8 against Forney and did not allow a single point in the second half. Williamson, a Junior, led the team in scoring with 20 points while Baker, a Senior chipped in 18 including shooting 3-7 from behind the arc.

The Lady Jackets continued their winning ways defeating the Wylie Pirates 66-41 last Friday night. Williamson and Baker led the way again scoring 19 and 17 respectively. Senior Post Hannah Clark added 16 and Junior Mandi McMillan finished with 8. 

Last night the Lady Jackets traveled to Garland for their first road game taking on Lakeview Centennial and came away with a 42-27 win. Williamson scored a team high once again with 15 points including shooting 11-14 from the line and Junior Cassie Ross chipped in 11 points. 

The girls will be competing in the Frisco ISD Varsity Tip-Off Classic this weekend and will begin play on Thursday at 6pm against Celina at Frisco Centennial High School. You can find tournament schedules and updates here. Celina is the 4th ranked 3A team in the area and should prove to be good competition for the Lady Jackets so plan on attending the game and showing your support. And as always... COME EARLY. BE LOUD. WEAR ORANGE.

Future Lady Jackets at Varsity Games

Attention all Future Lady Jackets (K - 8th Grade)... The RHS Varsity would love to see you at the following home games:

Future Lady Jackets will get in for free at these games by wearing orange. The girls can go back by the locker room before the game to meet with the Varsity if they show up 30 minutes before game time. We will also perform at halftime during each of these games.

The RHS varsity basketball team would like to get a HUGE group photo with all Future Lady Jackets on Monday night (Oct 28th) at 7:15pm at Williams Middle School. They LOVE the Future Lady Jackets and wanted to have a picture in the program with ALL Future Lady Jackets.

All girl's need to wear ORANGE! The varsity will wear their white uniforms so it will help the picture out if the girls wear orange.

Whether your daughter is currently playing on a team or not, we want all the girls grades K-8th who will one day attend RHS to be there on Monday night at 7:15pm for this big, giant, huge group picture! Please help us spread the word.

Basketball Boot Camp For 6th-8th Grade Girls

In partnership with Lake Pointe Sports, we will be hosting a Basketball Boot Camp for all 6th - 8th Grade Girls at Lake Pointe Church from 2-4pm on Sunday, November 10th & 17th. This camp is specifically designed to help girls prepare for middle school try outs. We will hold one session before try outs and one session in the middle of try outs. Local high school players from RHS & RHHS will be in attendance to share their tips and wisdom. These girls will also use social media to be in touch with our daughters throughout their try outs to help encourage them throughout the process.

While this camp is designed specifically for 7th & 8th graders preparing for middle school try outs, we are also opening it up to 6th graders because we believe it will give them a great foundation as they continue to prepare for middle school basketball.

ALL 6th-8th grade girls are invited to attend so pass this onto friends from other schools as well. We want girls from Rockwall, Heath, Rowlett, Royse City and beyond!

Great Summer Session!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our summer session! A quick recap of all that happened:

• We had RHS Coaches teach us skills
• We played in a combined 22 games over 3 weeks
• We had former Lady Jacket greats coaching our daughters
• We had current Lady Jackets teaching skills and coaching
• We had lots of parents coaching, cleaning, running scoreboards and everything in between
• But most of all... We had 63 girls challenge themselves to get better at basketball, while having a ton of fun!

Hoops for Haiti with Alyssa Lang

Former Rockwall Lady Jacket great Alyssa Lang recently returned from a mission trip to Haiti where she fell in love with some amazing kids who need some help. Alyssa is partnering with OH4F (Open Hands 4 the Fatherless) to help build an orphanage in Myan, Haiti and she wants to include you! Alyssa is putting together a basketball camp on August 21st at Rockwall High School and all proceeds from the camp will go to building this orphanage. 

The camp will be August 21st from 5-9pm and will include dinner, a message from Alyssa and some great basketball instruction. There is a suggested donation of $25 to attend the camp. Since all proceeds go straight to the orphanage we want to encourage you to give big! But we also want you to come to camp, so if you don't have anything to give, then come anyway.

Wednesday Night Summer Basketball

The Future Lady Jackets are hosting 2 skills nights and 3 game nights to sharpen your game and have a little fun this summer. Skills Nights will feature RHS Lady Jacket Coaches and/or Players to work with your Future Lady Jacket. They will be on July 17th & July 24th from 6pm – 7:15pm for kids entering 4th – 6th grade & 7:30pm – 9pm for kids entering 7th – 9th grade.

Game Nights will feature a series of 5v5 games. We will have refs and a scoreboard to foster a game atmosphere, but will change up the teams in an attempt to create competitive matchups. Game nights will be July 31st, August 7th & August 14th from 5pm – 7pm for kids entering 4th – 6th grade & 7pm – 9pm for kids entering 7th – 9th grade. Game times are subject to change.

Kasie Brewer Hired as Head Coach

Kasie Brewer was approved by the RISD School Board last night to become the new Head Coach of the Rockwall Lady Jackets. Coach Brewer was at Rockwall from 2007 - 2012 before leaving to become the Head Coach at Horn High School in Mesquite. In just one season, Coach Brewer led Horn to a fantastic season and a deep playoff run.

The entire Rockwall Basketball Family is excited to welcome Coach Brewer back home.

Coach McDill Send-off Reception

If you haven't heard the news... Coach McDill has stepped down as the head basketball coach at RHS and is heading to Sunnyvale. The McDill's live in Sunnyvale and their oldest son is about to start high school there. Coach McDill's husband Paul is also a Pastor in Sunnyvale. Her departure is bittersweet. She hates to leave Rockwall, but feels like this is the best decision for her family.

The high school is hosting a send-off reception next Monday, April 22nd in the RHS Cafeteria Annex at 6:30pm. All Future Lady Jackets are welcome to attend to say good-bye to Coach McDill and send her off with best wishes.

Lady Jackets Place 4 on All-District Team

Lady Jacket Sophomore Sara Williamson was named the Offensive Player of the Year for District 12-5A. Senior Morghen Day and Junior Ellen Baker were named to the first team and Senior Hannah Hughes earned second team honors.

Playoffs Begin Monday

The Rockwall girls’ basketball team will open the 5A playoffs with a Bi-District game against Garland Naaman Forest Monday, Feb. 11, at 7 pm at Sachse High School.

RHS (23-9 overall) finished the regular season third in District 12-5A with a 9-3 record. Naaman Forest (18-14) was the District 11-5A runner-up at 10-2. The Lady Jackets have advanced at least to the Regional Quarterfinals in each of the last eight seasons.

Playoff T-shirts will go on sale on Monday for $10 @ 7:30am in the basketball office. They will also be on sale at the game.

RHS Travels to Tyler and Brings Back a "W"

On Tuesday night the Lady Jackets made the long trip to Tyler Lee and were able to use a balanced scoring attack to defeat the Raiders 60-50. Rockwall took a 17-12 lead after the first quarter and outscored the Raiders in every quarter. Hannah Hughes lead all scorers with 15, Ellen Baker and Sara Williamson had 14 each and Morghen Day added 12. This victory brings the district record to 7-2 and the Jackets are 21-8 on the season. 

Both subvarsity teams got the win as well, with the JV team defeating the Raiders 63-27 and the Freshman A team won 61-11.

Rockwall Rolls over Hawks

The Lady Jackets got back on the winning track with a win at home against the Heath Hawks. The Jackets built an early 10 point lead and kept a double digit lead throughout the game. Sara Williamson had a dominating performance with 29 points and the Lady Jackets won in front of a great home crowd 63-50.

Rockwall is now 20-8 on the season and tied for second place in district with an 6-2 record. The Lady Jackets will travel to Tyler on Tuesday night to face a tough Lee squad. 

Lady Jackets Lose to Horn

Rockwall lost a tough game on the road at Horn on Tuesday night 41-31 in a match up of District 12-5A leaders. The Lady Jackets had a great second quarter, as Ellen Baker drained a trey and Megan Grandy scored to give them their largest lead at 22-13. Horn finally got a pair of baskets, but Morghen Day answered with a pair of scores of her own to give RHS a 26-17 lead at halftime.

The Lady Jackets struggled in the second half and fell just short. Sara Williamson led the team in scoring with 11 followed by nine from Day. The Jackets are 19-8 on the season and 5-2 in district play.

The Junior Varsity defeated Horn 41-29 behind scoring efforts of Jayley Ramirez and Rachel Farrow. The JV remains unbeaten in district at 7-0 and are now 23-1 on the year.

The Jackets will continue district play at home against Heath on Friday.

Lady Jackets Defeat Lobos on the Road

The Lady Jackets traveled to Longview on Friday night and defeated the Lobos 68-53. The Jackets were led by the scoring efforts of Ellen Baker with 18 points and Sara Williamson with 17. The Lady Jackets took a 19-7 lead in the first quarter and they never looked back.  

Rockwall improved it's record to 19-7 on the season with a 5-1 mark in district play.
